Tangail market and paper factory

A very early start from Dhaka got me to Tangail on time to visit the Haat, the village weaving market. The market happens once a week on Fridays and is busy with traders selling textiles, yarns and weaving tools.

On the way back to the centre we stopped by a paper mill. The sight of paper drying in the fields was stunning, a contrast to what its production entails. The paper is collected and sorted to separate plastic covering and impurities, before it is made into pulp and pressed into sheets, a laborious process in difficult working conditions.
