Meeting the entrepreneurs

On Saturday 19th we spent a morning meeting the entrepreneurs at the British Council offices. They are business people/ entrepreneurs that combine their own business interests with senior roles within the Bangladesh National Crafts Council. Their businesses work with traditional textile crafts and focus on products that are mainly hand woven, printed, dyed or embroidered for the Bangladeshi market. We discussed the absence of professionally trained designers within the textile industry and a creative attitude to craft making. As a result of this meeting we will be running a day workshop with their in house designers in the beginning of January. Over the next few weeks we will be visiting some of the production units and outlets of their companies.
